Here in New Zealand we have offered coastal rowing experiences through personally owned boats here in Auckland and Rod Trott in Whanganui. Rod has had a long experience with coastal rowing during the early 1990s when he successfully introduced the American Maas brand of skiff into Wellington College and Whanganui. In fact along with a School rowing coach Wellington College students enjoyed long harbour rows around notoriously rough Wellington Harbour and appeared at the Maadi Cup Secondary School championships where they won the Springbok Shield out of nowhere and surprised everyone!
The purpose of the New Zealand Coastal Rowing Association is to promote and make available the experience of Coastal Rowing. Its an exciting sport and offers many advantages over as well as complimenting flat water rowing. We will endeavour to keep this website up to date and full of information about the sport as it progresses and welcome your enquiries and interest.
Currently Coastal rowing experiences centre around the Auckland and Whanganui areas through Rod and his associates and myself in Auckland.
